Here's what Year 6 have been up to so far this term:-
Week Ending 16th July
A real week of contrasts. Biking began in torrential rain and ended under a blazing sun. The children have worked incredibly hard and badges and certificates have been earned. We have participated in a Lego communities workshop with a focus on British Values and children have researched on the topic of endangered animals.
We won our class reward to GO WILD!
made damper bread
cooked it over a fire
built temporary shelters
ate the damper with jam
smelled a bit like the fire!!
Week ending 9/7/21
This week has been RE week. We have been considering: what we know about God and why God is mysterious. We have thought about how believers see God at work in their day to day lives and examined the story of a Muslim lady from Egypt who found herself in need. We created a storyboard to show the key points in the story. We watched 2 videos about the life of Abraham and discussed how Abraham demonstrated his faith in one God. We learned that Muslims have 99 names for Allah (pbuh) and considered additional names that could also be given to a God.
Week Ending 2/7/21
We have had a busy week. We've written to a Zoo that let us down on a day out, completed our end of year assessments, auditioned for our summer performance and begun rehearsals. We've even started on props and wardrobe! We've also started 2 books this week - Wonder by R J Palacio and Skellig by David Almond. Both of these are worth investing in at home.
