18th-22nd May 2020

Happy Monday all,

I hope you are well? I was amazed by all the work I received last week- WOW, you're all superstars!

Below you will find the home learning plan for the week. As always, the work below is an intended guide. Children should complete as much as appropriate- we know that everyone's circumstances are different!

I have enclosed a letter below that I would really like the class to read :) This is part of this weeks writing task!

Please do contact me if you need any support and do send pictures of what you've been up to!

Have a good week and stay safe in the glorious sunshine!

Miss you all!

Week 5 Summer Term

Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar

Task: Please practice your weekly spellings. I have included a PowerPoint and I would really like to hear how you get on with these. This week’s spelling pattern is: Word families based on common words, showing how words are related in form and meaning (a continuation of last week’s rule). An example of these would be: scope/telescope and microscope.

Task:

Monday: Session 1 (Grammar activities)

Tuesday: Session 2 (Grammar activities)

Wednesday: Session 3 (Grammar activities)

Thursday: Session 4 (Grammar activities)

Friday: Session 5 (Grammar activities)

I have enclosed the answers to go through them with an adult. If there is a part of grammar you particularly struggled on, please do let me know.

Handwriting

Task: Please practice handwriting as much as possible. I have added some handwriting resources below and would love to see how you are getting on. Lots of people have been asking me about awarding pen licences, I wonder if any could be awarded during the time at home? What an achievement that would be!

Handwriting Resources- Summer Week 5

English

Task:

Monday: Read my letter to you all at the top of the page. I would really like it if you could write an informal letter to me! What does an informal letter include? I would love to hear what you have all been up to, this is a great opportunity to complete some letter writing! I would like to use today to plan!

Tuesday: Complete you letter writing task.

Wednesday: Watch the video  https://www.literacyshed.com/the-clock-tower.html

Create a comic strip version of the story.

Thursday: Literacy Shed- The Clock Tower

https://www.literacyshed.com/the-clock-tower.html

Think carefully about and imagine a character who lives in the village. Now fill in the details on the sheet.

Imagine that your character has written a letter from the ballerina and attached it to a balloon to float into her. Will it be a thank-you letter? Or a letter which details her plan for her freedom? Or something else?

Write you letter including these words: lonely, talented, towering, trapped, freedom, mechanism, beauty.

(All the resources for The Clock Tower unit are in in the PDF below)

Friday: I would like you to plan a poem linked to our plant’s topic.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p06jtfqb

Choose a theme for your poem- this could be seed dispersal, how plants or flowers grow etc. It could even be about bees?

Create a word cloud for your poem and write down all the key words that you can think of. It may help if you go outside.

You can write your poem and send it to me as a typed piece/ take a photograph/ or you could even record a video of yourself reading it and send it to me! That would be amazing!

English Resources- Summer Week 5
