2011 KS2 Christmas Concert Thanks to everyone who helped to make the Juniors’ Christmas Concert such a great success. Y3 and Y4 performed Baboushka, a traditional folk tale with a modern twist, then Y5 and Y6 performed ‘Panto Pandemonium’ - a whistle-stop race through Panto-Land to find magical objects and help the good fairy to defeat the wicked witch. At the end of the show everyone joined together to sing ‘I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas’ (a ‘once-heard-never-forgotten’ Christmas classic!) Well done everyone!

A Taste of India Thanks to Mrs Noot for coming to school to share a special assembly about her high school’s charity links with street children in India. We learned about the hardship of life for some orphaned children and we are planning to send some Christmas gifts to India as a sign of our friendship.

Year 6 Crime Scene Investigators Picture this… A crime committed at Woodhey High School. The Science Quiz Trophy MISSING. The only clue…Traces of a salt like substance in the lift and on the floor next to where the trophy was stored. The only solution… Call in Hazlehurst Year 6! Year 6 were transformed into Crime Scene Investigators when they visited Mr Mac Donald in the Science Labs. Through a series of experiments including burning salts to produce coloured flames reminiscent of bonfire night they were able to determine the true identity of the culprit! A great day matched only by the superb behaviour of the class. Well done Year 6 C.S.I.s.

Living History Y6 had a great time on their trip to Styal Mill in Cheshire. They dressed in Victorian costume and acted out the role of apprentices in the employment of Samuel Greg, the owner of the mill. They learned about the hardships of life in the mill and experienced the clattering roar of the mill machinery in full swing. It was a fascinating day. Thanks to Mrs Lawton for organising the trip.

Harvest Festival 2011 Thank you to everyone who helped to make our Harvest Festival such a success. The event was great fun; all the classes performed their own harvest songs, poems or dances and a large audience of parents and friends joined in with the hymns and songs with lots of enthusiasm. We are very grateful for the generous donations of food items and toiletries that we were able to give to ‘The Porch Project’, a charity that provides crisis care for vulnerable local people. We estimate that you donated about £1000-worth of items! Thank you!
