Our Reception class have been getting close to nature this week; they found some amazing creatures  in the school pond! Y1 have been creating their own Lego characters and inventing gadgets. Y2 have created a world of puppets and Y3 have been learning about prefixes. Y5 have been designing their own musical instruments and Y6 are showing off their fabulous Batik River, that was used in the Peace Child play.

Reception class have been finding out about farm animals this week and they would like to show you what they have found out about pigs! Y1 have been designing alien planets (maybe aliens need haircuts too!). In Y2 Lila has written a super Fable about how the Robin got his red breast and Jack knows all about ‘coin multiplication’, which is helpful Big Maths strategy. Y3 have written ‘Thank You’ letters after their trip to Tatton Park and Y4 have been doing research about life in Brazil. In upper juniors there is some super art to enjoy using the wax-resist technique called Batik - it looks wonderful!

This week there is lots of lovely writing to share - Reception have written about mini-beasts, Y1 have written about ‘Where the Wild Things Are’, Y2 have been re-telling the story of Dogger, Y4 have been writing ‘Lost and Found’ stories and Y6 have written ‘thank you’ letters to the fire officers who came to talk to them this week. We have also got some super maths in Y3 and Y5 to share and this week’s ‘must see’ is Lola Haddock’s ‘Antarctic Creatures’ Pop-Up Book!

Our Reception children have been showing off their number skills this week and writing their own stories in the style of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Y1 have made a class chart about loud and soft sounds. Toby has done ‘terrific take-aways’ in Y2 and in Y3 Freya knows all her tables! Y4 have been writing about the war and Y5 have been planning stories and writing persuasive letters. And finally, you will be amazed at the fabulous water-colour paintings that our Y6 children have created this week.

In Reception this week we have been writing our own version of The Very Hungry Caterpillar story. In Y1 Nyesha has written a super postcard and we have done some great maths work. Y2 have been doing tricky painting and Y3 have been studying the parts of flowers and writing plays! Y4 have been developing their grammar skills, learning about Food Chains and writing about the war. Y5 have been improving their computing skills and Y6 have been on their residential trip this week to Robinwood Activity Centre - remember to check out the action photos on our website!

This week Reception have been growing seeds in socks and making hungry caterpillars! Y1 have been creating a rumpus and enjoying the story ‘Where the Wild Things Are’; Y2 have been showing off their maths skills and learning to mix colours; Y3 have been constructing super sentences and solving word problems; Y4 have been polishing-up their grammar skills and creating some beautiful designs on ceramic plates in the style of the Spanish artist Miro; Y5 have been re-telling part of the story of ‘The Butterfly Lion’ and thinking about the dangers of animal extinction; and finally, Y6 have been writing about alien abductions!

This week in Reception Oliver and Oscar have done some wonderful maths, and Katy and Phoebe have written all about their trip to the zoo - their presentation is very neat! Y1 have been finding out  about dinosaurs and Spencer has done a superb piece of art in the style of Paul Klee. In Y2 Reuben has written some interesting facts about Florence Nightingale and Robby and Tom have shown us some maths skills. Lucy’s Y3 maths is also on display and Y3 have also been writing their own versions of the story of the Pied Piper (of Ramsbottom), containing quotes from Mr Golding! Y4 have shared some lovely art and maths work, and Y5 have been writing persuasive leaflets about the attractions of Blackpool and Ramsbottom!
Our Y6 pupils have been doing their SATs this week - and we are very proud of all their efforts!

It has been a very artistic week!
Our Reception class have been thinking about their trip to the zoo and creating animal art. They have also done some tricky maths! Y1 went to the zoo too and have written about the experience. Y2 have been creating artistic sea creatures and Y3 have been showing their superb Maths and English work.
Y5 have drawn some fabulous flower sketches and Y6 have been creating wonderful book covers for their ‘quest’ stories.

Y2 lave been learning about the creation story in the Bible as part of their RE work and Finn has retold the story very clearly. In Y3 Emily and Imogen created a beautiful poster about the life cycle of a butterfly, and Max did some sorting of 3D shapes. Y4 have been learning about World War 1 and our own ‘brave soldiers’ have made a moving film about trench warfare called ‘Going Over the Top’; they have also produced some lovely art work inspired by Miro. Y5 have been investigating the parts of a flower and Y6 have been participating in a project to re-house aliens!

Reception have been writing about their exciting trip to Pizza Express and creating symmetrical egg patterns. In Y1 Brooke has retold the Easter story and in Y2 there are some lovely Easter cards on display. In Y3 Kieran and Mia have been getting to grips with place value, Max has been explaining exactly how to make a photo-story and Emily has made one of her own for you to enjoy (Queen Lexi’s Adventure). Y4 have been learning about the Red Baron of WW1 and Adam has made a model of his plane. Y5 have made ‘happy bird’ Easter cards and Y6 have created wonderful ‘quest’ stories.
It was a great end to a superb term’s work. Thank you to all the children for giving us such lovely work to enjoy!

This week Reception have been learning about America and wowing us with their maths skills. Y1 have doing some odd maths and creating poems about magic boxes! Y2 have done character descriptions and Y3 have been researching the Vikings and writing about the Easter Story. Y4 have been designing ‘Choco posters’ and surrealist art - they also had some slippery visitors who inspired them to make their own models! Y5 have shared their silk screen banners from their trip to the Peoples’ History Museum and Y6 have been singing about their hobbies - in French!

There are some super number sentences this week from our Reception children and Phoebe has written a lovely poem about ‘Fruit, Fruit, Fruit’. You will love Megan’s Mothers’ day card too (and so will her mum!).
Y1 gave a live performance of their Talk for Writing Story, ‘How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth’, Y2 have been picking their favourite Shirley Hughes books and they have written blurbs for them, and Y3 have created their own maths questions and created non-fiction posters about space.
Y4 have been learning about the Hindu festival of Holi - click here for a photostory of their project.
Y5 have been creating super sentences based around a touching animation about an old man’s memories and Y6 would like to share some excellent poetry and science.

This week Reception have been learning about India and making some amazing elephant masks; you can see some of their beautiful writing too! Y1 have been explaining how to wash a Mammoth (!) and Y2 have been creating family trees - you will also love their duck art! Y3 have been demonstrating their handwriting skills and Y4 have been writing letters from the WW1 trenches. Y5 have created some super graphs and Y6 have been sending things into room 101!
And as a special treat this week we have also incuded some photos of our adopted animals from the animal sanctuary - Fuzzy the pony, Bert the dog, Harry the pig and Sally and Sarah the goats.

This week Reception have been writing about their dads and making paper plate sombreros! Y1 have been writing about Boris the Spider and Y2 have bee amazing us with their maths skills. Y3 came up trumps and Y4 went into battle (see the Boudicca Battle photostory). Y5 have shared some great maths  and science research, and Y6 have done some fabulous still-life sketches.

This week Reception have been writing about their lovely mums, Y1 have been describing some rather unusual pets and Y2 have been researching dinosaurs. Science and maths has been in full swing in Y3, and Y4 have been discovering fascinating facts about unusual animals. Letters, news reports playscripts and pop art have been produced in Y5 & Y6. Year 6 have also completed their art project based around the Disney film ‘Up’ and you can view their work in a photostory.

The reception class have started their Food around the World topic and they went on a shopping trip for ingredients to make Chinese food. It was tasty!
We have lots of lovely writing and maths to share this week and some beautiful art work from Year 2, 4, 5 and 6.

This week you can clearly see the way children’s writing progresses across the age-groups ...
Heidi in the Reception class impressed us with the way her writing has improved between September and now and Harrison made a fierce-looking pirate mask. The two Finlays showed off their great Y1 English and maths work, and in Y2 we had lovely writing and maths from Sophia and Max. Y3 have been studying magnetism and doing character studies and Y4 have been learning about India in geography. Y5 have done some brilliant persuasive letters and Y6 have created some wonderful writing based on the film ‘Up!’
Charlotte and Rosie have also made a slide show to share everything they learned about rivers when Y6 went on their Field trip to Redisher Woods
Well done to all the children for their hard work this week!

Reception shared a lovely photostory at assembly this week about their Gingerbread Man topic and then we were thrilled with the brilliant stories that Phoebe and Rebecca did all by themselves! Y1 have been writing their own stories in the style of the ‘3 Little Pigs’ story - click here to hear Harry reading his aloud. Y2 have been learning about the Great Fire of London and counting in 25s!
Y3 have been researching the Vikings and Olivia has written two letters about something unusual that appeared in a pond! Y4 have been creating Aboriginal art and Joshua got full marks in his maths challenge. Y5 have been ‘shaping up’ and building amazing models of the Solar System, and Y6 have produced some wonderful pieces of monochrome art.

This week our Reception children have been writing their own number sentences in maths and writing down the words that the Gingerbread Man said as he ran away! Y1 have been putting words into the mouth of the big bad wolf in his letter to the 3 little pigs. Did you know the wolf had an ‘incredible sense of smell’?! (They tried to spell all the words on their own using their phonics to help them.) Y2 have been describing Rabbit’s Hat and doing some lovely partitioning in maths. Y3 have created rhyming poems and learned about magnetism in science. Y4 have used recycled materials to make funky space creatures for their homework (spot the old shoe on ‘Trashie’!). Y5 have done some tricky reflective symmetry in maths, and Y6 have been doing electricity experiments and ‘pop art’.

Our Reception children performed the story of Cinderella brilliantly at assembly; they did it from memory (with a little help from the text map that we are sharing with you today!). Y1 have been doing some super maths. Y2 have been doing flow charts (What does a bean grow? Check Jack’s diagram to find out!). Y3 are sharing great maths work and lovely handwriting this week. Y4 read out wonderful descriptive writing in assembly. Y5 have shared some Space topic homework, and Y6 have produced some amazing personification poetry.

It has been a great start to the new year with lots of lovely work to enjoy! Reception children have been telling the time, so that they know when Cinderella should leave the ball! Y1 and Y2 have been describing some of the characters from our theatre trip to see Robin Hood. Y3 have started their topic about the Vikings and have made some impressive long boats. Y4 have been describing Aliens (some of them sound quite pleasant!) and in the upper juniors we have had some super literacy work to share and a very artistic dragon!

This week Reception have been writing sentences about the Nativity story, Y1 have been writing letters to Percy the Park Keeper, Y2 have been using lovely descriptive language, Y3 have been making dazzling Christmas calendar designs, Y4 have been creating their own characters inspired by Treasure Island, Y5 have made some wonderful Greek pottery designs and Y6 have been writing persuasive letters to try to get rid of children’s TV (and that would take quite a lot of persuasion!)

The Reception class have been reading the story ‘Aliens in Underpants Save the World’ and naturally they decided to create their own underpant designs! Y1 have been learning about germs and hand-washing this week. Y2 have been developing their gymnastic skills and doing ‘Magic Maths’. Y3 performed a funny letter from Mother Christmas to Father Christmas. Y4 have learned some amazing things about electricity. Lauren made a great model of a Greek Amphitheatre in Y5, and Y6 have been designing advertising posters for the pop-superstars who will be appearing in our Christmas show! We hope you enjoy our work!

Reception have been experimenting with circuits this week as part of their Light and Dark topic and doing some lovely writing. Year 1 have been making up their own versions of ‘Going on a Bear Hunt’ - Can you spot the differences? Y2 have done some great text mapping and Lily used her text map to tell the story beautifully at assembly. In Y3 Max created a super image of the river Nile and Alex has improved his handwriting. Y4 have created mathematical pirate maps, wanted posters and mythical underwater beasties (!) and Robyn wrote a wonderful story starter! In Y5 Jade wrote a fantastic Theseus story and Eleanor made a dress for her homework! Y6 made obstacle courses for pea plants to see if they would follow the light - and they did!

Reception have been enjoying the story ‘The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark’ and doing some of their own writing about owls. Y1 have been doing writing inspired by the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ - Finlay and Brooke read out their stories beautifully in assembly. Y2 have been designing rockets. Y3 have been writing fables and doing some great text-mapping to help them learn sequences of text. Y4 have just finished their intensive swimming course and they will be adding some more work next week. In Y5 Tomas turned a Greek Myth into a comic strip and Max made an amazing Medusa’s head (Dare you look at it?!). In Y6 it has been maths all the way!

Reception have been doing outdoor art and learning about Diwali. Year 1 have been designing unusual homes. Year 2 have been creating explosive firework art and Year 3 have been creating rather friendly looking scarab beetles! Years 5 and 6 have been looking for heroes and writing biographies.

Year 1 have been thinking of ways to keep seagulls from stealing your sandwiches! (inspired by the story of The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch) - Can you spot the comedy false teeth in Owen’s sandwich?! Y2 have been creating ICT Art. Alex in Y3 has amazed us with the sheer quantity of his work and his great imagination. We have also been doing lots of Maths, History and Literacy, including some wonderful biographies in Year 6.

You can visit the Reception class Medical Centre this week, read ‘Where’s My Teddy’ stories by Y1 children, have a chuckle at Charlie’s poem (Y2),  check your food groups with Matthew (Y3), marvel at Maths in Y4, check out Ryans cute dragon (Y5) and see some impressive Christmas card designs in Year 6 (and lots more).

You can see the progression in Writing this week from the early skills in Reception, through some super handwriting improvements in Year 4, leading to some amusing letters in Year 5, sent from ‘Father Bear’ to complain about the awful behaviour of that naughty girl, Goldilocks! Thanks also for some great story mapping, Egyptian Art, geographical research, lovely Victorian Art, and a beautiful demonstration of reading with expression by Sophie Lewis.

The Reception class children have been ‘working together’ really well this week. Years 1, 4, 5 & 6 have been busy with Maths, Year 3 have been writing their names in Egyptian hieroglyphs and Year 2 have been designing socks!

The end of the first week of the school year. A super start across the school, with some lovely writing and maths in the infants and Y3; some clever story-mapping in Y4, some climate study in Y5, and some beautiful art in Y6 on the theme of ‘Loaves and Fishes’.
